Biography

Alan Poole, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Poole earned his medical degree and a doctoral degree in molecular biophysics at the UT Southwestern Medical School, where he also completed a residency in pediatrics and received advanced training through a pediatric critical care fellowship.

Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric critical care medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2018.

He serves as Lead Physician Advisor for Clinical Documentation Integrity at Children’s Health and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Poole was named a Best Pediatric Specialist by D Magazine in 2024 and 2025.
