Alia Hemeida, M.D.

Biography

Alia Hemeida, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in all aspects of musculoskeletal care, including sideline coverage for women's sports, endurance events, and adaptive sports.

Dr. Hemeida earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at UT Southwestern Medical Center and received advanced training through a primary care sports medicine fellowship at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago.

Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2026.

Her particular areas of interest include the shoulder, hip, posterior glute, and knee. Dr. Hemeida performs targeted procedures under ultrasound guidance and has an interest in regenerative therapies such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. She hopes to help all athletes and active adults achieve their health goals.

Dr. Hemeida is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Physiatrists, and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

She has contributed to the book Essentials of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, published several academic articles, and delivered presentations and posters related to her areas of expertise.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Hemeida enjoys staying active through running and weightlifting, traveling, exploring new cafes, and spending time with family and friends.
