Biography
Amy Sessions, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant working in UT Southwestern’s Department of Radiation Oncology, supporting the gastrointestinal disease-oriented team. Amy graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with a master’s degree in physician assistant studies in 2008. Prior to working at UT Southwestern, she worked as a surgical physician assistant in both spine surgery and neurosurgery at Baylor University Medical Center Dallas for over 10 years.
As a physician assistant in gastrointestinal oncology, Amy enjoys broadening her knowledge and experience in a new field and being involved in the team approach between medical and surgical oncology disciplines where she enjoys closely managing patients undergoing treatment. She assists in the history and physical examinations of new and established patients, as well as follow-up care for patients after their treatment is done. In addition, she works with her team on clinical trials aiming to further research and treat rectal and pancreatic cancers.
Since completing her training, Amy has continued membership in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants (TAPA).
