Anant Dinesh, M.D.

Biography

Anant Dinesh, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in adult and pediatric abdominal transplantation, as well as pediatric dialysis access surgery.

Dr. Dinesh earned his medical degree at Maulana Azad Medical College, University of Delhi in New Delhi, India, where he also completed a residency in general surgery. He completed an additional residency in general surgery at Columbia University VP&S/Harlem Hospital Center in New York. He received advanced training through a surgical oncology fellowship at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre in New Delhi, as well as a multi-organ abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery and by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons in liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2026.

Dr. Dinesh’s research focuses on optimizing organ utilization through artificial intelligence and machine learning, advancing transplant outcomes via donor quality assessment and precision immunosuppression, and improving organ preservation using machine perfusion technologies.

He has authored works spanning transplant outcomes, donor assessment, organ preservation, and complex surgical and critical care challenges in peer-reviewed publications such as Transplantation, Transplantation Direct, and Frontiers in Public Health, as well as other international journals.

He is an active member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the International Pediatric Transplant Association, the International Liver Transplantation Society, and the Transplantation Society.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Dinesh enjoys spending time with his family and doodle, going on long road trips, and reading nonfiction.
