Biography

Averi White, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern and a member of its Division of Hospital Medicine. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2023, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

Originally from Dallas, Dr. White holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She received her medical degree from UT Health San Antonio, where she also completed a residency in internal medicine. After residency, Dr. White completed the National Center for Patient Safety's Chief Resident for Quality and Safety Program through Audie Murphy VA and UT Health San Antonio.

She is a member of the American College of Physicians, Society of Hospital Medicine, American Medical Association, and Dallas County Medical Society. Dr. White also holds a certification in point-of-care ultrasound from the Society of Hospital Medicine and the American College of Chest Physicians. She has taught ultrasound on the national level, including at the American College of Physicians’ annual conference.

Dr. White's clinical interests include point-of-care ultrasound, quality improvement and patient safety, global medicine, medical humanities, bedside procedures, and advocating for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. White enjoys traveling, reading, creating art, doing yoga, playing with her dog and cat, and spending time with family and friends.
