Biography

Bau Tran, Ph.D., Pharm.D., M.M.S., PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. His academic journey spans several decades and disciplines, beginning with a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 1997 and a doctorate in pharmacology in 2001, both from the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy.

He went on to complete physician assistant training in 2008 through the Red Rocks Physician Assistant Program in Arvada, Colorado, earning a Master of Medical Science from St. Francis University. He then completed a fellowship in critical care medicine with an emphasis in emergency medicine at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. He most recently earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Learning Technology from the University of North Texas.

Clinically, Dr. Tran has focused on primary care since 2009, with additional expertise in infectious disease and a strong interest in preventive medicine. Beyond patient care, he is committed to medical education and devotes much of his time to teaching in both the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and finds balance through reading, traveling, and exploring good food.
