Biography

Beth Deschenes, PT, D.P.T., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the School of Health Professions and a Faculty Associate in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in orthopaedic physical therapy.

Dr. Deschenes earned her doctoral degree in physical therapy at Arcadia University. She also holds a master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Kansas Medical Center and a master’s degree in health and fitness management from American University.

Certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists in orthopaedic physical therapy, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1999.

Among her other roles at UT Southwestern, Dr. Deschenes serves as Vice Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy and as a member of the Academic Accommodation Advisory Committee and the Student Advisory Committee.

In addition, she is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

Dr. Deschenes’ clinical and research interests include musculoskeletal physical therapy and the importance of physical activity. She has delivered invited lectures and published academic articles related to her areas of expertise.

Personal Note

Outside of medicine, Dr. Deschenes enjoys attending her kids’ sporting events, doing Pilates, and walking her dog.
