UT Southwestern's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery was recently included on Becker’s Hospital Review list of 100 hospitals and health systems with great orthopaedic and spine surgery programs. Our 28 orthopaedic specialists offer a multidisciplinary approach to care across six locations and were the first in North Texas to use a female-specific prosthetic for knee replacement.

The department benefits from access to multiple research cores and collaborative investigators at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, enabling us to perform comprehensive molecular, cellular, biochemical, and biomechanical investigations of the musculoskeletal system.

We offer a variety of educational opportunities for medical students, residents, and physicians. Education programs include the Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship and the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency, as well as daily conferences, monthly mortality and morbidity conferences, a journal club, and weekly resident conferences featuring case presentations and faculty-directed conferences.

Our orthopaedic surgeons have long been recognized for excellence in the treatment of orthopaedic conditions such as orthopaedic trauma, arthritis, joint replacement, sports injuries, hand surgery, and other musculoskeletal conditions. Our dedicated team of physicians, researchers, and clinical service providers expertly evaluates each patient and creates a comprehensive treatment program for each specific condition, using minimally invasive techniques whenever possible.
