Biography
Claudia Phen, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition, with a focus on pediatric polyposis, hereditary GI cancer syndromes, and fatty liver disease.
Dr. Phen earned her medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and received advanced training through a pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition fellowship at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center Dallas.
Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021.
Dr. Phen is a member of the Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Colorectal Cancer and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition and its Pediatric Polyposis Special Interest Group.
She has delivered numerous invited lectures, both locally and nationally, and published peer-reviewed articles related to her areas of expertise.
Dr. Phen sees patients at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and the UT Southwestern Pediatric Digestive Diseases clinic in Plano. She enjoys patient care and teaching medical learners. She strives to educate and empower her patients, so they can lead longer, healthier lives.
Personal Note
When she’s not at work, Dr. Phen enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her husband, son, and two dogs.
