Connie Hsia, M.D.

Biography

Connie Hsia, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Her clinical interests include structure-function relationships in lung diseases especially sarcoidosis. She manages patients with sarcoidosis at UT Southwestern and at the Sarcoidosis Clinic at Parkland Hospital.

Dr. Hsia received her medical degree at the University of Toronto. She completed residency training in internal medicine followed by a clinical fellowship in respiratory medicine at the University of Toronto, followed by a pulmonary research fellowship at UT Southwestern. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in pulmonary disease.

Dr. Hsia’s research interests include pulmonary physiology, mechanisms of lung growth, repair and regrowth, quantitative assessment of lung structure and function, and functional imaging.

Dr. Hsia is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Thoracic Society, a member of the American Physiological Society, Fleischner Society for Thoracic Imaging and Diagnosis, World Association of Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous Disorders, and the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research. She is a past Chair of the Assembly on Respiratory Structure and Function and a current member of the Program Review Committee of the American Thoracic Society.

She serves as an Associate Editor for Comprehensive Physiology – Respiratory Physiology, and an editorial board member of the Journal of Applied Physiology, Physiological Reports, and the American Journal of Physiology – Lung Cell and Molecular Physiology. She is a peer reviewer for several scientific journals, and a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health and other funding agencies.
