Biography
Deepika Kumaresan, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Originally from India, Dr. Kumaresan earned her medical degree at Vinayaka Missions University in Puducherry, India, and completed an internal medicine residency at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.
Dr. Kumaresan’s clinical interests include obesity medicine, endocrinology, Type 2 diabetes, preventive medicine, and integrative medicine. She is active in several professional societies, including the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
She previously conducted research in the reproductive medicine department at Cleveland Clinic. She is a co-author of a book chapter in Endometriosis: A Comprehensive Update and worked on a bench research project studying the impact of abstinence on sperm parameters.
Dr. Kumaresan continues to extend her keen interests in endocrinology and reproductive medicine to her internal medicine practice.
Personal Note
When she’s not at work, Dr. Kumaresan likes to meditate and spend time in her garden. She is passionate about spiritual health, mental health, and yoga, and has been an avid yoga practitioner and meditator since 2013. She volunteers to teach classes at CSL Dallas. Dr. Kumaresan is a proud mom of three: a 5-year-old son and two cats. She is also vocally trained in classical Indian Carnatic music.
