Biography

Devika Radhika Rao, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in pediatric respiratory medicine.

Dr. Rao earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine and completed a residency in pediatrics at Emory University. She received advanced training in pediatric pulmonology through a fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric pulmonology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2012.

Dr. Rao serves as Medical Director of the Pulmonary Function Testing Laboratory at Children’s Health and as Co-Chair of UT Southwestern’s Pediatric Faculty Advocate Committee. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society and co-chairs its Tobacco Subcommittee of Pediatric Advocacy.

Dr. Rao is the author of several articles and reviews, and she has lectured and presented widely on topics related to her clinical and research interests, which include e-cigarettes and vaping-related lung injuries, pulmonary manifestations of sickle cell disease, pediatric advocacy, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. She was a contributor to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Lung Injury Response Clinical Working Group’s clinical guidelines.
