Biography

Ellie Prosser Hakim, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She provides clinical services to medical and graduate students in the Student Wellness and Counseling Center. 

Dr. Hakim earned her doctoral degree in counseling psychology at the University of Kansas. Having worked in college mental health and training since 2001, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2018. She is is a Licensed Psychologist with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

Dr. Hakim participates in the Peer Advocate program and serves on the peer advocate selection committee for the Student Wellness and Counseling Center at UT Southwestern. She is a member of the American Psychological Association (Division 17, Counseling Psychology), the Dallas Psychological Association, and the Texas Psychological Association, among other professional organizations. 

She has published and delivered numerous presentations on supervision, training, and ethics and contributed to the book Positive Psychological Assessment: A Handbook of Models and Measures.

In 2017, Dr. Hakim earned the Helen Roehlke Outstanding Service Award from the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies.
