Biography

Emily Reed, MSN, APRN, NNP-BC, RNC-NIC, is a board certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) in the Department of Pediatrics, Neonatal Division, at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Ms. Reed completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman's University (TWU). As a nursing student at TWU she was exposed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Shortly after the observation day in the NICU as a student she obtained a position as a Student Nurse Tech, thus beginning her career in Neonatology in 2014. After becoming a Registered Nurse she continued to work in the NICU and subsequently completed her Master of Science in Nursing from University of Texas at Arlington in 2020, with a population focus on Neonatology. During her seven years at the bedside in the NICU, Ms. Reed has had a special interest in Developmental Care, NeuroNICU, and Family Centered Care.
