Biography

Ilene Chiu, M.D., is a Faculty Associate in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is a general otolaryngologist who treats conditions of the ears, nose, and throat both medically and surgically at the Otolaryngology Clinic at the Moncrief Medical Center at Fort Worth.

Dr. Chiu earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, where she also completed her residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery.  She received comprehensive training in all subspecialties of otolaryngology, including head and neck surgical oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center; pediatric otolaryngology at Texas Children’s Hospital; and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, otology, rhinology, skull-base surgery, and laryngology at Baylor College of Medicine-affiliated hospitals.

During her residency, Dr. Chiu also completed a two-year NIH T32 research grant-funded basic science research track investigating the genetic causes of nonsyndromic hearing loss utilizing whole-exome sequencing.

Dr. Chiu is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the Texas Medical Association, the Tarrant County Medical Society, and the Fort Worth Surgical Society.

She is a native Texan who speaks English and Mandarin Chinese.
