Biography

Jack B. Cohen, D.O., is a Professor in the Department of Dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in general dermatology.

Dr. Cohen earned his medical degree at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a residency in family practice at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, serving his final year as Chief Resident, and then performed an additional residency in dermatology at the Bay Dermatology Center in Largo, Florida. He gained advanced training in clinical dermatology through a fellowship at UT Southwestern.

Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1994.

Dr. Cohen served as the dermatology physician for the monthly Hansen's Disease Clinic at UTSW’s Aston Center Neurology Clinic from 1999 to 2015, and he was a member of the Wound Care Subcommittee at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

In addition to his roles at UT Southwestern, he is also an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.

His clinical interests include atopic dermatitis, connective tissue diseases, drug reactions, medical therapeutics, and psoriasis.

Dr. Cohen is a member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Dermatology, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Dermatological Society, and he serves as an advisor to the board of the Texas Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America.

He has lectured widely and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals related to his areas of interest. His publications include a contribution to the book Dermatology Atlas for Skin of Color.

Personal Note

Outside of work, Dr. Cohen enjoys working in his garden, cooking, hiking, and traveling with his wife and friends.
