Biography

Jaini Sutaria, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her specialties include co-management of surgical patients, high-value care, and perioperative medicine.

Dr. Sutaria earned her medical degree at the NHL Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. She completed one year of radiology residency at the Seth KM School of Postgraduate Medicine and Research in Ahmedabad and then immigrated to the Unites States, completing a residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2017.

Dr Sutaria is passionate about medical education and faculty development. She has been the Course Co-Director for Residency Essentials IM track since 2017, which is focused on preparing graduating fourth-year medical students for transition to internship. She also is the Chair of the Education Committee within Parkland’s Hospitalist Division.

In addition, she serves on the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine’s Medical Education Research Committee.

Among other honors, Dr. Sutaria was awarded the SWAT grant for her work on “Incorporating Standardized Simulation-Based Teaching and Assessment of Entrustable Professional Activities” in 2018-2019.

In 2018, she received the Best Rookie/New Hire of the Year Award from UT Southwestern.

She is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Society of Hospital Medicine, the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine, and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
