Biography

James Wilder, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. A third-generation physician and native Texan, Dr. Wilder specializes in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies, including endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, and vulvar cancer. Additionally, he treats complex pelvic surgical cases. His clinical interests include robotic surgery, hereditary gynecologic cancer syndromes, vulvar disease, and the management of menopause. He also has a strong focus on hormone replacement therapy for women in menopause and the surgical training of residents and fellows. A leader in minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Wilder has performed over 3,000 robotic surgical procedures.

Dr. Wilder earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, followed by advanced fellowship training in gynecologic oncology at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He is board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology.

Before joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024, Dr. Wilder practiced for 20 years in San Antonio. He is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health. He has been honored as a Texas Super Doctor every year since 2015.

Personal Note

Dr. Wilder enjoys spending time with his three children, staying active through regular exercise, and hunting.
