Biography
Jerry Allen Powell, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Pediatric Radiology Division. He serves as Radiology Service Chief at Children’s Health in Plano. His clinical interests include pediatric musculoskeletal imaging and inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Powell holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern, and completed his radiology residency training at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He then obtained advanced training through a fellowship program in pediatric radiology at UT Southwestern.
Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2006, Dr. Powell was a staff radiologist at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas and at Naval Air Station, Joint Reserve Base, in Fort Worth, at which he continues to serve as Officer in Charge of the radiology section.
Dr. Powell is the regulatory liaison for radiology at UT Southwestern, as well as Immediate Past President of the Medical Staff at Children’s Health in Plano.
Dr. Powell serves as a member of several committees within UT Southwestern, including the Executive Committee of Plano Medical Executive Committee and the Legacy Campus Medical Leadership Committee at Children’s Health. He is also chairs the Credentials Committee, and is a member of the Legacy Quality Committee.
He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the Society of Pediatric Radiology.
