Biography

Jessica Stone, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist originally from Southern California. She attended California State University, San Bernardino, where she received a B.A. in psychology and human development. She then received a master's in school psychology from the University of La Verne. After years of working as a school psychologist in the California public school system, Dr. Stone sought further education to obtain her master’s and Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Azusa Pacific University.

Dr. Stone has worked with individuals across the lifespan. She has also served in various settings that include community mental health, psychiatric hospitals, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, academic health centers, and the private sector. She joined the faculty of UT Southwestern Medical Center in May 2023.

Dr. Stone works with a variety of presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma (e.g., sexual, physical, emotional), insomnia, negative self-image, and interpersonal difficulties. She also has a special interest in working with individuals from diverse communities, including ethnic/religious groups, sexual orientation, and disabilities. Dr. Stone has advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for PTSD, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for depression.

As a clinician, Dr. Stone believes in developing a collaborative relationship with each patient she serves, respecting their view as experts of their own lives while utilizing time-limited, evidence-based approaches to therapy to help them along their journey. She is passionate about assisting her patients in recovering from psychological stress, enhancing their strengths, and becoming empowered to live a more meaningful life.

Dr. Stone also specializes in psychodiagnostic testing. She currently conducts attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) screenings and presurgical (i.e., bariatric, spine, kidney donor, etc.) evaluations at the multispecialty psychiatry clinic.
