Joanna Spahis, M.S.N., APRN, AGN-BC
Biography
Joanna Spahis, APRN, CNS, AGN-BC, is a board certified clinical nurse specialist (CNS) in the Department of Pediatrics - Division of Genetics and Metabolism at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Ms. Spahis completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1984 and earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University of Chicago in 1988. She has worked in pediatric genetics since 1993 at Children's Health Dallas with a particular focus in providing care to children with Down syndrome, including helping to develop a unique adolescent transition clinic in 2014. She has also been active in the International Society of Nurses in Genetics and was on the committee that developed the first clinical credential for nurses practicing in genetics in 2001. She was one of the Great One Hundred Nurses of DFW in 2014 and earned the Paula Dimmitt Overall Achievement Award in 2016 .
