Biography

Joseph Crossno, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in pulmonary vascular development and repair, end-stage lung disease, cardiopulmonary support, and lung transplantation.

Dr. Crossno earned his medical degree and a doctoral degree in biochemistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, and gained advanced subspecialty training in pulmonary and critical care medicine through a fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

Dr. Crossno previously served as Medical Director of Lung Transplantation at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, and the American Society of Transplantation. He has delivered presentations, contributed to books including Current Diagnosis and Treatment in Pulmonary Medicine, and published several academic articles related to his areas of expertise.

Personal Note

Outside of work, Dr. Crossno enjoys traveling, playing golf, spending time with his family, watching college sports, cooking, and food and wine pairing.
