Biography

Joseph Guillory, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center and an O’Donnell Brain Institute Clinical Neuroscience Scholar. He was awarded a New Emerging Childhood Mental Health Research Grant by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium.

In his clinical role, he works in a novel Transitional Age Young and Young Adult Psychiatric clinic that spans across Children’s, Parkland, and UT Southwestern. In his research role, he is the principal investigator on several studies for Transitional Age Youth who struggle with suicidality.

Dr. Guillory earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s McGovern Medical School. He completed a residency in adult psychiatry at UT Southwestern, where he also received advanced training through a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry.

He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.

Dr. Guillory is President of the North Texas Board of Directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). In 2018, Dr. Guillory delivered the keynote address at the NAMI Texas State Convention, and in 2021 he received NAMI’s Exemplary Psychiatry Award.
