Biography

Julie Mirpuri-Hathiramani, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Dr. Mirpuri-Hathiramani earned her medical degree at the University of Hong Kong. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Atlantic Health’s Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey, followed by a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2010.

A physician-scientist, Dr. Mirpuri-Hathiramani’s research focuses on neonatal mucosal immunology, neonatal microbiome development, and necrotizing enterocolitis with a goal of developing novel therapies to improve the health of babies. She has delivered national and regional invited lectures and published numerous academic articles related to her areas of expertise.

She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Southern Society for Pediatric Research, the American Association of Immunologists, the Society for Pediatric Research, and the Perinatal Research Society.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Mirpuri-Hathiramani enjoys reading, doing advocacy work, cooking, and watching all things “Star Wars.”
