Biography

Kathryn (Kate) Raseman, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in pediatric palliative and hospice medicine and pediatric medical complexity.

Dr. Raseman earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern. She completed a residency in general pediatrics at the University of Colorado and Children’s Hospital Colorado and received advanced training through a pediatric hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at UT Southwestern. She also completed a fellowship at the University of Chicago’s MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics.

Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.

Dr. Raseman’s clinical interests include clinical ethics, medical humanities, and medical education.

She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

In 2024, she was honored as a University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital REMOC Super Hero of the Month. Award recipients are nominated by peers as the hospital employee who best embodies compassion, equity, and teamwork.

When she’s not at work, Dr. Raseman enjoys the outdoors, music, and breakfast tacos with her family.
