Biography

Kevin Wayne Klein, M.D., FASA, is a Professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Pain Management and Otolaryngology. He specializes in anesthesia for otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. 

Dr. Klein earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School, where he also completed residencies in internal medicine and anesthesiology. He received subspecialty training in cardiovascular anesthesia at the Texas Heart Institute and St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston.

Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1986.

Dr. Klein’s research interests include ambulatory anesthesia, COX-2 inhibitors, difficult airway management, otolaryngology, and postoperative nausea and vomiting. He is the author of numerous articles, abstracts, and book chapters, and he has given invited lectures across Texas and the United States.

Dr. Klein is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Dallas County Medical Society, the Dallas County Anesthesiology Society, the International Anesthesia Research Society, the Society for Airway Management,
the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Texas Medical Association.

He was elected president of the Dallas County Medical Society for 2019.

In 2018, Dr. Klein received UT Southwestern’s Institutional Service Award.
