Biography
Leen Al-Hafez, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in maternal-fetal medicine.
Dr. Al-Hafez earned her medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Houston Methodist Hospital and received advanced training in maternal-fetal medicine through a fellowship at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.
Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.
Dr. Al-Hafez’s clinical interests include preterm birth, diagnostic genetic procedures, fetal anomalies, and fetal echocardiography. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Medical Association, and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
She has published numerous academic articles, delivered several presentations, and contributed to the books Obstetrics and Gynecologic Women’s Health Prevention and Safeguard and the fourth edition of Maternal-Fetal Evidence Based Guidelines. She serves as a reviewer for American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology MFM.

When she’s not at work, Dr. Al-Hafez enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and son.
