Dr. Nguyen is actively involved in research, focusing on a condition called MOG antibody-associated disease. This is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system gets confused and makes MOG antibodies, attacking the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. This can cause problems such as blurry vision, trouble walking, and seizures. Her work explores how to predict which patients go on to have relapses and treat it more effectively.

She is a recipient of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)-funded Child Neurology Career Development Program K12 Award and the Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation Elterman Award.
