Biography

Mambarambath Jaleel, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. A board-certified neonatologist, he has dedicated his career to delivering consistent, high-quality care to the most vulnerable newborns.

Dr. Jaleel's medical training spans three continents. He completed his medical degree and pediatric residency in India, followed by a neonatology fellowship at Canberra Hospital and the University of Sydney in Australia. He then earned membership in the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in London before completing an additional fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Women & Infants Hospital, affiliated with the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Since joining UT Southwestern's faculty in 2007, Dr. Jaleel has served families across the Dallas-Fort Worth area through his work with Children's Health, Parkland Memorial Hospital, William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, and Texas Health Resources (Dallas and Frisco).

Dr. Jaleel is deeply committed to improving the experience and outcomes of patients and families in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). He previously served as Medical Director of Parkland’s NICU and Associate Chief for Clinical Affairs for the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. He also created NeoSource, a comprehensive resource used by more than 500 health care providers across five hospitals to standardize neonatal care through evidence-based guidelines, policies, and clinical tools.

He established a neonatal quality improvement program at Parkland that has earned national recognition and contributed to published research, all in the service of making neonatal care safer and more effective. He also completed an intensive International Coaching Federation-aligned coaching development program at UT Southwestern and uses those skills to support faculty and trainees.

Dr. Jaleel currently serves as Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Pediatrics, providing leadership across both neonatal and pediatric clinical programs. In this role, he is focused on increasing community access to pediatric care, improving departmental efficiency and quality, and strengthening patient safety and the overall patient and family experience.

Personal Note

Outside of medicine, Dr. Jaleel has a deep appreciation for travel and experiencing diverse cultures, a passion shaped by his own journey across three continents. An avid runner, he has completed several half marathons and continues to pursue the sport as both a personal challenge and a way to stay grounded. He is an enthusiastic Dallas Mavericks fan and enjoys Bollywood music.
