Matthew Lemler, M.D.

Biography

Matthew Lemler, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in acute care cardiology, cardiac imaging, and single ventricle lesions.

Dr. Lemler earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Children’s Health/UT Southwestern and gained advanced training through fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric echocardiography at Children’s Hospital of Denver/University of Colorado.

Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1996.

Dr. Lemler is the Clinical Director of Pediatric Cardiology and the Director of Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center Dallas. He is a member of numerous hospital and university committees, including the C-8 Collaborative Leadership Committee, the Multidisciplinary Clinical Operation Committee, and the Event Prevention Governance Committee.

In addition, he is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Heart Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography. He also serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for journals such as Circulation, the Journal of Pediatric Infectious Disease, and Pediatric Nephrology.

A prolific researcher and author of numerous peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Lemler focuses his research on aortic stenosis, the Fontan procedure, and noninvasive imaging. His recent publications include a chapter in Echocardiography in Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease: From Fetus to Adult.

In 2014-2021, Dr. Lemler was ranked a Best Pediatric Specialist by D Magazine.
