Biography

Meghana Kashyap, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in colon and rectal surgery and treating cancers of the colon, rectum, and anus, as well as benign diseases such as diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, hemorrhoids, and anal fistulas. She also performs colonoscopies for screening and diagnostic purposes.

Dr. Kashyap earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident. During her residency, she also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Kashyap gained advanced training through a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery.

She joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

A member of the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons, Dr. Kashyap is a host of the association’s Gut Check podcast. She is also actively involved in the Texas Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Kashyap has delivered numerous presentations and published multiple book chapters and academic articles. She is a former host of Behind the Knife, a surgical education podcast, for which she contributed to a surgical education textbook that was published.

In 2024, Dr. Kashyap received a Fellow Award from the Northwest Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons Medical Ethics Series.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Kashyap enjoys adventuring, spending time outdoors, and exploring arts and culture, especially music and dance. She loves dogs and enjoys the company of her beagle, Petri.
