Biography

Meitra Doty, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in women’s mental health.

After earning her medical degree at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center’s College of Medicine, Dr. Doty completed a residency in psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident.

Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2013.

Dr. Doty is the Assistant Director of the UT Southwestern Perinatal Psychiatry Access Network and the Director of the UT Southwestern Women’s Mental Health Concentration for Psychiatry Residency.

She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, Dallas Area Women Psychiatrists, and the North Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians. She is an ad hoc reviewer for the Archives of Women’s Mental Health and is a longstanding member of the Texas Department of State Health Services Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee.

Dr. Doty’s research interests include maternal mental health and trauma-related disorders. Her recent publications include a contribution to A Clinical Casebook of Sleep Disorders in Women.

In 2017, Dr. Doty was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year for the UT Southwestern Psychiatry Residency.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Doty enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, walking in nature, woodworking, and traveling.
