Biography

Mohammed Al Shalal, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Hospital Medicine Division who provides general medical services at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Originally from Iraq, Dr. Al Shalal completed his medical education at Al-Mustansiriyah University in Baghdad. He then received internal medicine residency training at Lincoln Medical Center in New York.

Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021, Dr. Al Shalal served as an attending physician at New York Presbyterian-Lawrence Hospital, an affiliate of Columbia University. 

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Al Shalal is an active member of the American College of Physicians and the Iraqi Doctor Association.

During his free time, he enjoys playing chess, reading (particularly history), traveling, and spending time with his family.
