Biography

Ozlem Tekelioglu, Psy.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in acute and chronic pain management; coping with chronic illnesses, comorbid disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety; and sleep disorders.

Dr. Tekelioglu, known by her patients as “Dr. Oz,” earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. She completed a postdoctoral residency in health psychology and pain management at San Mateo Medical Center.

A licensed psychologist with the California Board of Psychology and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Oz has conducted research on opioid cessation and chronic pain management, and her current research focuses on nociplastic pain, or long-term complex pain, and the determinants influencing pain perception. She has given presentations on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), submissive behavior, and depression in adults.

She is a member of the American Psychological Association.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Oz enjoys traveling, practicing martial arts, riding motorcycles, and doing outdoor activities.
