Biography
Patrick Sutphin, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and division chief of its Vascular and Interventional Radiology Division. He provides clinical vascular and interventional radiology services at Zale Lipshy University Hospital, William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, and Parkland Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Sutphin holds a bachelor's degree in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Arizona in Tucson. He earned his medical degree and his doctorate in cancer biology at Stanford University School of Medicine. He then performed his residency in radiology and his fellowship training in vascular and interventional radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
He focuses his research on disorders of the liver, and breast cancer that has metastasized to the liver. His work has resulted in more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals and presentations at professional conferences throughout the country. He holds a patent for synthetic lethal targeting of glucose transport, and has patents pending on two other innovative chemical compounds.
Dr. Sutphin is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, and the Society of Interventional Radiology.
