Biography

Rajyalakshmi Kakarla, M.D., is an Assistant Instructor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in women’s health and has a special clinical interest in peri- and post-menopausal health.

Dr. Kakarla earned her medical degree at Guntur Medical College in India. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and received advanced training through an Ob/Gyn fellowship at Queens Hospital Center, also in New York.

Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024. She has been in Ob/Gyn private practice since 1981.

Dr. Kakarla is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and the American Laparoscopy Society.

She has published academic articles related to her areas of expertise.
