Selby Chu, M.D.

Biography

Selby Chu, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Chu earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He completed a residency in pediatrics at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern University. He received advanced training through a fellowship in pediatric hospice and palliative medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.

Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric critical care medicine and by the American Board of Internal Medicine in hospice and palliative medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023. His clinical work spans both the pediatric critical care and palliative care teams at Children’s Medical Center. He is a dedicated educator whose academic interests lie at the intersection of health care communication, clinical informatics, and health equity.

Dr. Chu is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
