Biography

Sergio Garces, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in neuro-ophthalmology, adult strabismus, and pediatric neuro-ophthalmology.

Dr. Garces earned his medical degree at the University of Zulia, where he also completed a residency in ophthalmology. Dr. Garces received advanced training through a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at the Henry Ford Health System and a pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus fellowship at UT Southwestern.

He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Garces enjoys playing and listening to music, board games, and traveling.
