Biography

Siddharth Kogilwaimath, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is a member of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine and specializes in care for people living with HIV, including those coinfected with viral hepatitis.

Born in India, Dr. Kogilwaimath grew up in Brunei. He began his medical training at International Medical University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and earned his medical degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He completed an internal medicine residency at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, where he served as Chief Administrative Resident. He received advanced training through a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. He also holds a diploma in clinical epidemiology from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a master’s degree in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in internal medicine and infectious disease, Dr. Kogilwaimath joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

His clinical activities are based at Parkland Memorial Hospital and William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital. He also holds a secondary appointment in the Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health.

Dr. Kogilwaimath has a keen interest in HIV and HCV care, as well as bridging health inequities for vulnerable populations, including people who inject drugs. He also provides HIV education for primary care practitioners to enhance knowledge, reduce stigma, and improve access to HIV care.

He is a member of numerous professional associations, including the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the HIV Medicine Association, and the European AIDS Clinical Society.

Dr. Kogilwaimath has delivered presentations and published peer-reviewed academic articles related to his areas of expertise.
