Biography
Sindu Vellanki, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in pediatric gastroenterology, especially inflammatory bowel diseases and integrative medicine approaches such as mind-body therapies for gastrointestinal disorders.
Dr. Vellanki earned her medical degree at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Stanford Children’s Health, where she served as Chief Resident. She gained advanced training in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition through a fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.
Dr. Vellanki is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Gastroenterological Association, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, including its Integrative Medicine Special Interest Group.
She has delivered numerous presentations, contributed to the book Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and published several peer-reviewed articles related to her areas of expertise.
In 2021, Dr. Vellanki received the Gastroenterology Fellowship Citizenship Award from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
