Biography

Stephanie K. Serres, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in breast cancer care.

Dr. Serres earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of North Texas and her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. She completed a residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. She received advanced medical training through a research fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and a breast surgical oncology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.

She is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Dr. Serres’ clinical interests include the psychosocial aspects of a breast cancer diagnosis. She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and abstracts and delivered multiple presentations in her areas of expertise.
