Breast cancer refers
to a malignant tumor that has developed from cells in the breast. Most often,
breast cancer begins in the cells of the lobules, the milk-producing glands, or
the ducts, the passages that carry milk from the lobules to the nipple. Less
commonly, breast cancer can begin in the connective tissues of the breast,
known as the stromal tissue.
Breast cancer might spread
to the lymph nodes in the underarm, as well as to other parts of the body.
