Biography

Stephen Reed Chorney, M.D., M.P.H., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in complex pediatric otolaryngology.

Dr. Chorney earned his medical degree at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He completed a residency in otolaryngology at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University and then received advanced training in pediatric otolaryngology through a fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He also holds a Master of Public Health degree in health systems and policy from Rutgers School of Public Health.

Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, Dr. Chorney joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020. In 2022, he obtained advanced certification in Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology.

Dr. Chorney’s clinical and research interests include pediatric aerodigestive disorders, airway reconstruction, and voice disorders. He serves as a peer reviewer for The Laryngoscope, Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, and International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology. Dr. Chorney currently sits on the editorial board of Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology.

Dr. Chorney is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, and the Society for Ear Nose and Throat Advancement in Children.
