Biography
Steven Wu, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He serves as the Associate Program Director for the Interventional Pulmonology Fellowship. Dr. Steven Wu is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, Critical Care Medicine, and Interventional Pulmonology, dedicated to providing advanced, patient-centered care for complex lung and airway conditions. He combines extensive academic training with specialized procedural expertise to diagnose and treat challenging pulmonary diseases using the latest minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Wu earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Cornell University before completing his medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital / OhioHealth in Columbus, Ohio. He then pursued his Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital / University of Miami Health System in Miami, Florida. He further refined his expertise through advanced fellowship training in interventional pulmonology at Emory University in Atlanta.
Dr. Wu specializes in interventional pulmonology with a focus on complex airway pathology, thoracic oncology, pleural diseases and effusions, and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy. He is a highly experienced robotic-assisted bronchoscopy specialist with extensive experience using advanced robotic platforms for the diagnosis of lung nodules, peripheral pulmonary lesions, and thoracic malignancies. His procedural expertise includes rigid bronchoscopy with airway intervention, tumor debulking and ablation, airway stenting including 3D custom silicone stents, percutaneoous tracheostomy, cryotherapy, and a wide range of other advanced airway and endobronchial ablation techniques.
Known for his precision, innovation, and compassionate approach, Dr. Wu is committed to helping patients with complex pulmonary and airway diseases achieve better outcomes through personalized, leading-edge care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Wu enjoys playing pickup basketball, following the NBA, playing chess, and exploring new culinary destinations.
