Biography

Surendranath Veeram Reddy, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in pediatric cardiology and adult congenital heart disease.

Dr. Reddy earned his medical degree at the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences in Bellary, India. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Michigan State University and then received advanced training through a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and an additional year of subspecialty fellowship training in pediatric interventional cardiology at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and UT Southwestern.

Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric cardiology and by the American Board of Internal Medicine in adult congenital heart disease, Dr. Reddy joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2010.

In addition to his other duties, he leads the UTSW Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, the Fontan-Single Ventricle Program, and the Premie Duct Occlusion Program, and he is a co-leader of the MRI-guided Cardiac Catheterization Program.

Dr. Reddy’s research interests include biodegradable stents, innovative transcatheter/hybrid therapies for complex pediatric and adult congenital heart disease, radiation-free MRI-guided cardiac catheterization procedures, Fontan-Single ventricle palliation, and lymphatic interventions.

He is the author of numerous scholarly articles, and he frequently delivers invited lectures and plenary presentations. He serves as an ad hoc reviewer for American Journal of Cardiology, Catheterization Cardiovascular Interventions, Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging, Pediatric Cardiology, Annals of Pediatric Cardiology, and Progress in Pediatric Cardiology.

Dr. Reddy is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Heart Association, the Dallas County Medical Society, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, and the Texas Medical Association.
