Biography
Taha Moussa, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in the care of children and adolescents with complex autoimmune, autoinflammatory, and immune dysregulation disorders, including juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitides, periodic fever syndromes, uveitis-associated rheumatic disease and immunotherapy, juvenile dermatomyositis, and scleroderma.
Dr. Moussa earned his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Suez Canal University in Egypt. He completed his pediatric residency training at Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar, followed by an additional residency in pediatrics through the Boston Combined Residency Program at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital. He subsequently completed advanced fellowship training in pediatric neuroimmunology at Hamad Medical Corporation and pediatric rheumatology at University of Chicago Medicine. He has also completed advanced musculoskeletal ultrasound training through the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists and is pursuing musculoskeletal ultrasound certification in rheumatology (RhMSUS).
He is certified in pediatrics through both the American Board of Pediatrics and the Arab Board of Health Specializations. Additionally, he holds subspecialty certification in pediatric rheumatology through the American Board of Pediatrics. He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2026.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Moussa values both the diagnostic complexity and the longitudinal relationships involved in caring for children with chronic rheumatic diseases. He enjoys collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes for patients with complex inflammatory and immune-mediated conditions.
He has delivered presentations and authored peer-reviewed academic publications related to his areas of expertise. In 2025, Dr. Moussa received the Top Provider Award from the University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians Inc.
Personal Note
When he’s not at work, Dr. Moussa enjoys staying active through sports such as squash and soccer and values spending quality time with his family.
