Biography

Vivek Beechar, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in transplant infectious diseases and cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection.

Dr. Beechar earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and gained advanced training through an infectious diseases fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. While at Emory, he also earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and infectious diseases, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

Dr. Beechar’s research interests include opportunistic viral infections, such as CMV, in solid organ transplant recipients. He has published peer-reviewed articles related to his areas of expertise.

He is a member of the American Society of Transplantation and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

In 2022, Dr. Beechar was honored as one of the Most Outstanding Fellows at the Emory University School of Medicine.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Beechar enjoys supporting Arsenal Football Club, keeping fit, and traveling.
