Biography

William Swindell, D.O., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Hospital Medicine Division. His clinical interests include general internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and endocrinology.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Swindell holds a bachelor's degree and a doctorate in biology from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and a master's degree in statistics from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. He completed postdoctoral research studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, and at Harvard Medical School. He received his medical degree from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, and then completed internal medicine residency training at The Jewish Hospital — Mercy Health in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Swindell's research interests include neurodegenerative disease, functional genomics, bioinformatics, meta analysis and health data analytics. His investigations have resulted in more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals, and his findings have been presented at scientific conferences throughout the U.S. and around the world.

Dr. Swindell is active in professional societies such as the American College of Physicians and Texas Medical Association.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Swindell enjoys traveling, exercising, sports, and spending time with family.
