What Tests Are Performed During a LASIK Consultation?
During the visit, our refractive team will:
Review current eye symptoms, including dryness, and any previous dry eye treatment
Use advanced imaging to measure the shape, thickness, and any irregularities of the cornea (the clear layer of tissue covering the front of the eye)
Create a detailed map of each eye to identify areas that could be reshaped during surgery
How Long Does a LASIK Consultation Take?
The appointment will last about 20 minutes.
How Is LASIK Candidacy Determined?
Candidacy is determined through an in-depth analysis of the cornea. Our evaluation measures:
Corneal thickness
Corneal curvature
Risk factors for ectasia, or weakening and bulging of the cornea
The percentage of corneal tissue that surgery would change
The amount of supporting corneal tissue remaining after surgery
Our team reviews these factors against established safety guidelines before recommending surgery.
