Biography

Adrienne Shannon, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in cutaneous surgical oncology and soft tissue tumors.

Dr. Shannon earned her medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery within the University of Pennsylvania Health System and received advanced training through a complex general surgical oncology fellowship at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.

Dr. Shannon has delivered national and international presentations, contributed to the book Practical Manual for Dermatologic and Surgical Melanoma Management, and published more than 50 academic articles related to her areas of expertise.

She is a member of the American College of Surgeons and its Surgical Outcomes Club, and the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Shannon enjoys spending time with her family, including her three children. She also enjoys photography and travel.
